Before you start
MediaMarkt and Saturn run one marketplace together, so one set of product data serves both storefronts. In the catalogue management of your MediaMarkt back office you select "Mediamarkt.de" or "Saturn.de" under "Context", and either choice still shows and edits all your products for both. There is no separate Saturn content to write.
The rules below follow the German MediaMarktSaturn content guidelines. Your own back office holds the current document, so check it there before you rewrite a large catalogue. MediaMarkt keeps it under "My Inventory", then "Import from file", then "Documents".
You fill the text and attribute fields on the MediaMarkt tab of your products in e-tailize, then validate and list. Get a product live: validate and list it walks through that screen.
Steps
- Put only the model name or the product name in the title. MediaMarkt adds the brand itself, and the name template of the category adds the product type, the colour and other attributes.
- Choose the category first. It decides which attributes you get. Fill the mandatory device type attribute with care, because it decides in which category a customer finds your product.
- Fill every mandatory attribute, then as many recommended and optional ones as you can. The webshop builds its search, filters and facets from the attributes, never from the description.
- Write the description about the product itself, without web links and without superlatives. You may format it with an unordered list, a break, an H3 header and a paragraph. Other tags are not allowed, and attribute values cannot be formatted at all.
- Give the product a main image of at least 1200 by 1200 pixels: the whole product in front view on a white background, as JPG, PNG, TIFF or EPS in RGB. No collage, packaging, logo, watermark, shadow or lighting effect, and nothing that is not in the box.
- Add further images of at least 1200 by 1200 pixels in JPG or PNG, again without seller logos, test logos, test certificates or packaging. Text on them is allowed in German or in English only. Delete stored image paths first, because a path can shift or cut the rendering.
- Put the energy label and the EU product data sheet in their own attribute field as PDF, never as JPG or PNG and never with the product images. Use the field that matches the version of your label and fill in the matching energy efficiency attribute, otherwise the label is not shown.
- Give a toy the German warning text, starting with the word "Achtung", and the age recommendation of the manufacturer.
What happens next
Your product appears on the marketplace only after an upload without errors. In catalogue management it then carries "Pending", and the MediaMarkt content team only picks up products in that state. "Invalid data" means something is missing or wrong, and nothing happens until you fix it.
Select "Mediamarkt.de" under "Context" before you check anything. The error report reaches you by e-mail after the upload, and sits in the back office under "My Inventory", then "Import from file", then "Check product imports". Correct what it names and import again, until the status turns to "Pending".
Common problems
Every refusal carries a code. Most refusals come back to a handful of causes: a title that is too long or still carries the brand, a main image that is blurred, too small or not clean, packaging or a logo in another image, a description that is missing or carries a web link, a colour or scope of delivery attribute that says nothing, an energy label that did not go up as PDF, or mixed German and Spanish attributes. Fix the field the report names and import again.
The current list of codes and what each one means sits in your own back office under "My Inventory", then "Import from file", then "Documents". Not sure what a code means? Ask us in the chat.
FAQ
Why is my energy label not visible?
Either it went up in another format than PDF, or the energy efficiency attribute that belongs to it is empty. Fill the class or scale attribute of the same version as your label.
Can I delete an image or an attribute value?
You can change images and attribute values, but not delete them, and a new image only takes effect under a new URL. Plan a correction as a replacement.
What do I do with attributes marked (ES)?
Leave them alone. They belong to the Spanish storefront, and MediaMarkt asks you to ignore them on the German one. One exception: if a product comes back with code LDE, select "Global" under "Context" and remove every entry for attributes with identifier (ES).
