Before you start
Kaufland Global Marketplace runs on its own API and not on Mirakl, so rules written for a Mirakl marketplace do not apply here. Kaufland publishes its own product data guideline in Seller University, and that guideline is the rule book below.
Six things are mandatory on every product: the EAN, the category, the title, the description, the manufacturer and a picture. The EAN and the manufacturer come from your main product. You pick the Kaufland category when you create the tab, and you fill the title, the description and the images on the Kaufland tab itself. Get a product live walks through that screen.
What happens next
Kaufland judges your content after it arrives, per EAN, not while you send it. A run that comes back without an error is an acceptance, not an approval, and the verdict per product follows later.
Common problems
The title is refused
Kaufland recommends 50 to 80 characters. No emoji, no words written in capitals only and no keyword stuffing.
The description is too thin
The minimum is 150 characters and the maximum is 5000, so use the room. Bullets are recommended.
The images do not pass
Each image needs at least 1024 pixels, and 2048 or more for the zoom. Ten MB is the maximum per image. The main image goes on a white background, and five to ten photos per product is the recommendation. Kaufland fetches your pictures from a publicly reachable JPG, PNG or GIF address, so an image behind a login never arrives.
More than ten keywords
The keyword field, which Kaufland calls the short description, takes at most ten entries.
An attribute value is cut off
Kaufland attribute types carry hard character limits: TinyText 256, ShortText 512, SmallText 1024 and Text 65535. Map a field whose content is longer than the type allows and the value no longer fits.
"does not comply with the expected SI unit"
An attribute that expects an SI unit wants the number and the unit together, for example 250mm. That message comes from e-tailize before anything reaches Kaufland, so the fix is on the Kaufland tab: add a unit from the hint next to the field, then validate again.
A second EAN for a blocked product
Listing the same product under more than one EAN is forbidden on Kaufland. The duplicates are removed and your account is sanctioned for it. Repair the data on the original EAN instead, see Fix validation and listing errors.
FAQ
What does my category add on top of the six mandatory fields?
Kaufland asks for extra attributes per category. Material composition on textiles, nutritional values and allergens on food, the energy label and the product data sheet on lighting, white goods and televisions, an age recommendation on toys, the tyre label on tyres and the CLP statements on hazardous substances. Which ones apply stands in the Kaufland spreadsheets for your category.
Which video specification do I follow?
The two Kaufland sources disagree. Seller University names 100 MB and 180 seconds, while the Seller API documentation names 200 MB MP4 at 15 to 120 frames per second. Follow the API documentation for anything you upload through a feed.
Does e-tailize check these rules before it sends?
Only the part it can see. The SI unit check above is ours and fires before anything leaves e-tailize. The rest of the guideline is judged by Kaufland once your content is in.
Where do I see what Kaufland refused?
On the listing status, per product and per field. The message behind the field name is written by Kaufland. See Read the listing status and errors.
