Before you start
Cdiscount runs on Octopia, the marketplace platform of Cdiscount, so your product content lands in the Octopia catalog. Content and offers travel separately and content goes first: an offer can only attach to a product that already exists in that catalog under your EAN. See Content versus offers, and why you list.
Every product needs an EAN and either a SKU or a reference. e-tailize checks both itself and stops the product before Cdiscount ever sees it. Which other fields you have to fill depends on the category, and e-tailize reads that list from Cdiscount per category.
Steps
- Open "Validation" in the left sidebar and pick the Cdiscount tile.
- Click "Add missing PIM tabs" on every category you sell on Cdiscount.
- Open the mapping of that category and fill "Global marketplace fields (mandatory)" first. For Cdiscount that section always holds "Title", "Base price", "Internal reference" and "Primary image".
- Fill what you can under "Additional global marketplace fields": "Description", "Rich marketing description", "Images" and "Variant group reference".
- Fill "Mandatory fields category", the attributes Cdiscount publishes for that exact category. An attribute lands here when Cdiscount marks it as mandatory or as recommended, so a recommended attribute is asked of you like a mandatory one.
- Fill what fits under "Optional fields", the rest of the attributes of that category.
- Click "Refresh category" on the category card when Cdiscount changed the category. The marketplace field sync then runs in the background.
- Click "Validate products" on the category card and pick "Fill mandatory fields & validate" or "Validate only". Then open "Listing", pick the Cdiscount tile and click "List content".
What happens next
e-tailize cleans "Title", "Description", "Rich marketing description" and "Brand" before sending them: markup and web links come out and the text arrives as plain text. The same cleaning runs on every plain text attribute of the category, so a value that is only a link arrives empty. Write these fields as plain text, without markup and without a link.
Your images go out as one numbered list: "Primary image" first, then the images on the product, then "Images". Duplicate addresses are dropped and an empty attribute is not sent at all.
Cdiscount answers with a product integration report per EAN. Its errors and warnings appear on the product in "Listing", each one starting with "Error: " or "Warning: ". Push "List offers" once the content is through.
Common problems
"Missing GTIN/EAN." and "Missing sellerExternalReference (Sku/Reference)." are our own checks. The product has no EAN, or neither a SKU nor a reference. Fill it in on the product and validate again.
"Product does not exist in Octopia catalog. Create the product before publishing an offer." means the offer went out before the content. Send the content, wait for the report, then the offer.
"Existing product is not editable for this seller; content update skipped." means the catalog product is not yours to edit. Your offer still attaches to it, but changing that content runs through Cdiscount seller support.
"Unable to validate product state in Octopia; product content update skipped." is the lookup failing, not your data. Try again later.
FAQ
Can I use HTML or a link in my description?
No. Tags and links are stripped out of "Title", "Description", "Rich marketing description" and "Brand" before the content leaves e-tailize, so they never reach Cdiscount. Keep those fields plain text.
Why is "Brand" mandatory on one category and not on another?
Cdiscount decides that per category and e-tailize follows. In a category where the brand is mandatory, "Brand" sits under "Global marketplace fields (mandatory)", everywhere else under "Additional global marketplace fields".
