Before you start

Five things have to be in order before an Amazon listing goes anywhere.

  • A SKU. The "Sku" field on the "Main product" tab is mandatory for Amazon. A product without one does not list.
  • EANs registered with GS1. Amazon checks the code you send against the GS1 register, so a code that is not properly registered fails the match.
  • A registered brand. The brand has to be valid in your Amazon account through Brand Registry. Without a registration, use "Generic".
  • Your Amazon account settings. Handle the validations Amazon still has open on your account before you push products.
  • The local language. Product details belong in the language of the Amazon store you are listing on.

Amazon sets its own limits on the length of your title and description, on the number of bullet points and their length, and on the number of images, and it refuses images with a watermark, text or a logo. e-tailize validates your product against those limits before it sends, and the validation result names the field that is over. Amazon's own seller guidelines in Seller Central carry the exact numbers.

A+ content cannot be managed through e-tailize.

Common problems

Your product lands in Amazon's drafts. The push goes through on our side and the product does not appear in your Amazon inventory. Then it passed our validation and failed Amazon's own second check, which puts it in the drafts section Amazon calls concepts. The usual causes are a SKU that is already in use or stands under another value at Amazon, a category that does not line up with Amazon's own, and a limit that is exceeded.

Amazon returns its feedback in the listing screen after the first push. Fix what it names on your products page, with bulk edit for a whole set, then validate and list again. When the product stays in the drafts, open the upload status in Amazon, go to the drafts from there and accept Amazon's suggested values. Changed the SKU? Then delete the draft that still carries the old one.

The title is refused. Shorten the name field on the Amazon tab until it fits the limit, then save, validate and list again.

Too many images. Every image on the tab is sent. Remove the extra ones from the Amazon tab, or point the field for the additional images at the set you do want to send. Fix validation and listing errors has the full route.

FAQ

Amazon says my product details are not complete enough to match an ASIN.

Check that the identifier you send is registered with GS1 and that the attributes for that product type are filled. "Gtin" on the "Main product" tab is only for a GTIN barcode that differs from the EAN, so leaving it empty is normal. Amazon does the matching on its own side, against schemas it updates regularly, so the validation result on the listing is the current truth. Still no match? Contact support with the EAN and the exact error text.

Which fields are mandatory for my category?

The ones the tab shows you. Amazon updates its category requirements regularly, and e-tailize reads them from Amazon, so a field that was optional earlier can be required now. Your own tab and the validation result are the current truth, Seller Central has Amazon's own explanation.

What makes a listing perform once it is live?

A clear, keyword led title, images that meet Amazon's requirements, short informative bullets, and stock that does not run out. Amazon decides the ranking itself and weighs things like relevance to the search, sales, availability, reviews and price. Seller Central carries Amazon's own explanation.
