Selling on Favoshop: the New Dutch Marketplace From Mediahuis
Written byBerend · Sales Adviser

A new marketplace does not open in the Netherlands every day. In June 2026, Mediahuis Nederland launched Favoshop, a marketplace that bundles the online stores of its news brands, among them De Telegraaf, Leeuwarder Courant and Dagblad van het Noorden, under one label. For sellers, that means a fresh channel carried by some of the most familiar names in Dutch media, at a moment when the first partners are still being onboarded. This guide covers what Favoshop is, what selling on Favoshop costs, what the platform expects from you, and how to decide whether it deserves a place in your channel mix.
What Favoshop is
Favoshop is the marketplace of Mediahuis Nederland, the publisher behind De Telegraaf, Leeuwarder Courant, Dagblad van het Noorden and other Dutch news brands. It launched in June 2026 and brings the online stores that previously lived separately under each title together in one shop. Instead of a Telegraaf webshop here and a Leeuwarder Courant webshop there, readers now land in a single storefront that carries the trust of the brands they already know.
Under the hood, Favoshop runs on Mirakl, an established marketplace platform, with ChannelEngine as the integrator that connects sellers to it. For sellers this matters: it is proven infrastructure rather than an experiment, and it means product feeds, orders and stock flow through a standard route instead of a homegrown one.
Why sellers should care
The obvious draw is the audience. Favoshop starts with the reach of major Dutch news brands behind it, covering both the Netherlands and Belgium. Those readers are not anonymous traffic: they arrive through titles they visit daily and trust. A marketplace that opens with that kind of brand recognition is rare, and it is exactly the environment where a good product with solid content can perform without a big advertising budget.
Timing is the second argument. Favoshop is onboarding its first partners now, with a focus on home and living, lifestyle, health and seasonal campaigns. On mature marketplaces, every search result is a fight with dozens of established sellers. On a channel this young, early sellers face far less competition in search results, and the positions you claim now are the ones later entrants will have to fight for.
That said, Favoshop is curated. It selects partners that fit its categories and quality bar, and no application is guaranteed to be accepted. Treat it as a channel worth applying to, not a channel you are entitled to.
What selling on Favoshop costs
The commercial model is simple. There is no setup fee and no fixed subscription. Favoshop earns a commission of 12 to 17 percent per sale, depending on the category. You only pay when you sell.
A worked example: a product that sells for 100 euros in a category with a 15 percent commission costs you 15 euros in commission on that sale. Everything else in the margin equation, from product cost to shipping and returns, stays in your own hands, because you fulfil orders yourself.
That structure makes Favoshop a low risk test. A quiet month costs you nothing beyond the effort of keeping your listings current, which is a very different proposition from channels that charge a fixed monthly fee regardless of sales.
What Favoshop asks of you
The application form is clear about expectations, and they are worth reading before you apply. Favoshop asks that you:
- deliver to both the Netherlands and Belgium
- provide product content in Dutch
- offer customer service in Dutch
- state honest, realistic delivery times
- pack and ship orders yourself
- handle returns and warranty cases yourself
None of this is unusual for a Dutch marketplace, but together it defines who Favoshop is for: sellers who can genuinely serve Dutch and Belgian customers in their own language, and who have their own fulfilment in order. There is no fulfilment service to lean on, so your logistics need to carry the promise your listing makes.
How the application works
You apply through the form at favoshop.nl/aanmelden. Favoshop reviews applications and contacts you if there is a fit. Because the marketplace is curated, the application is a pitch, not a formality, and a rejection is a real possibility.
The form asks about your assortment, your SKU count, whether you use an aggregator, and your experience on other marketplaces. That last question is a signal: sellers who already perform elsewhere, on bol for example, walk in with proof that they can handle marketplace operations. Have those numbers ready before you apply, and be precise about which categories your assortment serves.
The real barrier for international brands
For Dutch sellers, the requirements above are routine. For international brands, they are the real barrier. Product content in Dutch, customer service in Dutch and reliable delivery across the Netherlands and Belgium are exactly the points where a strong foreign brand stalls. The product is right, the category fits, the audience is there, but the localisation is missing.
This is a familiar pattern on every local marketplace, and it is solvable. Language should never be the reason you skip a channel whose audience matches your products.
How e-tailize gets you on
Localisation is exactly what e-tailize does. We present your brand to the channel, build your product feed to this channel's specification, and localise the content so it meets the Dutch language requirements. The same product base then runs on 200+ marketplaces, so the work you do for Favoshop is never work for one channel only. More than 500 sellers already run their marketplace sales this way.
The commercial logic mirrors Favoshop's own: our fee follows the new revenue we generate, so a channel that does not perform does not cost you. Whether Favoshop fits your assortment is a question we answer honestly in a free exploration call; if the fit is not there, we say so and look at channels where it is. See the Favoshop integration page for the details.
New marketplaces with a real audience do not appear often. Favoshop has the brands, the infrastructure and, for now, an open door for the right partners. If your assortment fits home and living, lifestyle or health, this is the moment to apply, before the search results fill up.
