Before you start
Google Shopping is not a marketplace you sell on. It is a shopping surface: a shopper who clicks your Google listing lands in the store that offers the product and buys there. That single difference explains most of what follows.
In e-tailize, Google Shopping is not one of the connections you can add yourself. Click "New connection", pick "Marketplace", and Google Shopping is not in the logo grid. That is not a gap in your account and not a permission you are missing: it is the same for everyone.
Ask us in the chat if Google Shopping matters for your business and we will tell you what is possible for your account.
What happens next
If you ask us about Google, we look at what is possible for your account. Google Shopping is not a channel you set up yourself, so the route runs through us.
Two things are worth doing while you wait.
- Keep your catalog complete. What you import and enrich in e-tailize is not tied to one marketplace until you build the marketplace tab for it, so a clean catalog is ready for whatever channel you add next. See Ways to import your products.
- Do not wait on an importer for Merchant Center. Google Merchant Center is not one of the import sources. Your webshop, a CSV file, a bol export and adding a product by hand are. If your product data only lives in Merchant Center, export it there as a spreadsheet and bring it in with the CSV import, mapping each column to a field in e-tailize. Attribute names will not line up one to one, so count on that mapping step. See Import products with a CSV file.
Common problems
You cannot find Google Shopping when you add a connection. Google Shopping is not in the logo grid, and that is not a fault in your account. No role, plan or setting unlocks it, so there is no click path worth hunting for.
Your products look fine in e-tailize but Merchant Center disapproves them. e-tailize does not show Google's item level issues in the app, so a green product here says nothing about Google's verdict. Read those issues in the Diagnostics view of Google Merchant Center, where each one carries a code, a description, a detail, a resolution and a servability. The resolution text names the attribute at fault. Correct that attribute in the source that feeds Merchant Center; the route to Google runs through that source, not through e-tailize.
You see clicks from Google but no Google orders in e-tailize. There is no Google order feed. The sale happens in the store the shopper landed in, so those orders reach e-tailize through that store's own connection, and they carry that source, not Google. See See your orders per marketplace or webshop.
FAQ
Can I connect Google Shopping myself?
No. Google Shopping is not offered when you add a marketplace, so there is no wizard to complete, no key to paste and no login to approve. Ask us in the chat if you want it looked at for your account.
Does a green validation in e-tailize mean Google approves my products?
No. A validation checks your products against the rules e-tailize holds, inside e-tailize. For Google nothing is checked with the marketplace before you publish, so the verdict is made in Merchant Center after your data arrives there.
What does Google expect from titles, descriptions and images?
Google sets its own limits for title length, description length and image formats, and it disapproves images that are too small. Google revises this specification, so read the current numbers in Google's product data specification before a big rewrite.
Can I import my Merchant Center feed into e-tailize?
Not directly. Merchant Center is not an import source. Export your feed there as a spreadsheet and use the CSV import, where every column is mapped to a field in e-tailize.
