Before you start

Lightspeed gives out an API key and an API secret from your own store settings, and the secret is only shown when you ask for it. You need access to the developer settings of the store, and you need to know which language your shop runs in, because e-tailize asks for it in the connection.

Steps

  1. Log in to Lightspeed and open "Settings", then "Store Settings" and then "Developers".
  2. Click "New API key".
  3. Give the key a name, for example the name of the integration, and click "Save".
  4. Tick the permissions you grant and click "Save". The key itself now shows under "DETAILS".
  5. Click "Show" to reveal the API secret and copy both values.
  6. In e-tailize, open "Settings", click "Connections", click "New connection" on the "API connections" page and pick "CMS".
  7. Click the Lightspeed logo and name the connection.
  8. Fill in "Store url" with your shop address, in the shape https://yourshop.webshopapp.com/.
  9. Fill in the two letter language of your shop, for example NL, EN or DE, then paste the key into "API key" and the secret into "API secret".
  10. Click "Advanced settings" above the form to set the shipping on the orders e-tailize forwards to Lightspeed. The dialog "Configure connection" opens. Go straight to the last step if you do not want shipping rules.
  11. Tick "Set PostNL as shipment method". The fields of the shipping rules appear.
  12. Fill in "Set minimum free shipping amount". An order above that value is forwarded without a shipping price, an order on or below it gets one.
  13. Open "Select country", type in the "Search..." box and pick the country the rule is for.
  14. Fill in "Set shipping price" for that country.
  15. Click "Add". The country and its price land in the list under the fields. Do this for every country you ship to.
  16. Click "Proceed" to close the dialog.
  17. Click "Test & save connection".

What happens next

Lightspeed is a connection for orders, stock and track and trace between your shop, e-tailize and the marketplaces you sell on. Which of those flows run is up to you, on "Stock & order configuration" under "Fulfillment". Importing products from Lightspeed is not supported: with a saved connection selected you do see an "Import products" button next to "Test & save connection", but it has no effect.

With the shipping rules on, an order that e-tailize forwards goes over with PostNL as its shipment method, and the price of the country on the shipping address is divided over the lines of the order. A country that is not in the list gets no shipping price.

Common problems

Walk the known causes of a refused test in order. Use the default url of your Lightspeed store, a custom domain is not the address to fill in here. Check that "API key" and "API secret" are the current pair, since a regenerated key makes the pair you saved earlier wrong. An empty "Shop primary language (two letter abbreviation)" gives "'Shop Language' must not be empty.". And the Lightspeed eCom API needs an Advanced or Professional subscription, so a lower plan fails with credentials that look correct.

The language field wants the two letter abbreviation of the primary language of your shop, not a country. A shop that sells in several languages still has one primary language in Lightspeed.

"Proceed" with "Set PostNL as shipment method" ticked and an empty list gives the red message "Atleast one country with shipping price should be added". Pick a country, fill in its price and click "Add" first. "Add" stays quiet while no country is picked or the price is still 0, and it refuses a country that is already in the list.

FAQ

Where do I find the API secret again?

Under "DETAILS" of the key you made, behind "Show". If it is no longer available to you, create a new key and save the connection again with the new pair.

Which permissions does the key need?

Read and write on at least the categories products, customers, orders, settings and tracking. The app says the same behind the information icon next to "Configure connection", under "How to connect with Lightspeed".

What if I leave the free shipping amount empty?

Then every forwarded order gets the shipping price of its country, because there is no value it can stay above. Fill it in when orders from a certain value up have to go over without a shipping price.

How do I switch the shipping rules off again?

Untick "Set PostNL as shipment method" in "Configure connection", click "Proceed" and then "Test & save connection". The amount and the list of countries are cleared with it.
